The Fine Print: CubaConnect Policies and Guidelines

Note to all travelers: CubaConnect Educational Travel and Translation Services LLC operates the people-to-people program to Cuba under a general license issued by the U.S. Department of the Treasury, Office of Foreign Assets Control and, as dictated by U.S. law, all participants are required to adhere to a full-time schedule of activities designed to inform, educate and promote meaningful interaction with the people of Cuba. Deviation from this itinerary, even in part, is not permitted. Per the general license requirements, this is a full-time program with many inclusions and there will be little to no free time throughout the program. Our trip is designed and implemented to comply with U.S. regulations on travel to Cuba as well as local laws in Cuba. CubaConnect is not responsible for violations as a result of travelers ignoring advice, altering programs on the ground or breaking Cuban law. 

Confirmation of Participation

Payment of deposit is not a confirmation of participation in the trip. A minimum number of travelers must be met, which will be stated on the WeTravel booking site. Participation will be confirmed the day after the booking deadline. Please do not purchase airline tickets or make other arrangements until your participation is confirmed.

Payment & Cancellation Policy

Deposit is required in order to sign up for trip. Payment in full is due 45 days prior to the start date of the trip unless otherwise noted. In the event that the participant must cancel his/her participation in the trip for personal reasons, in extenuating circumstances, deposit may be refunded 45 days prior to the start date. No refund or adjustment can be made for any portion of the services not used such as voluntary non-usage of accommodations, scheduled meals or any planned activity described in your itinerary.

Passport and visa

All travelers are required to carry a valid passport and a Cuban visa. Those without a valid passport and visa will not be allowed to enter. Passport should be valid for a minimum of 6 months after departure date. You may obtain a visa from Cuba Travel Services (CTS) or at the airport if instructed by the airline that this service is provided.



Trip insurance is not provided. We strongly encourage travelers to purchase insurance through a third party.

Health insurance within 30 days of arrival to Cuba is included in the cost of airfare when one purchases a commercial flight to Cuba.
